These 2022 Sally Ride Quarters Could Be Worth Over $400

As part of the U.S. Mint's American Women Quarters Program, famed physicist, educator and astronaut Dr. Sally Ride appears on some 2022 quarters. It's a deserving honor for the first American woman in space who, when she blasted off on the Space Shuttle Challenger in 1983 at age 32, was also the youngest American in space. The quarters featuring Dr. Ride are worth a lot in sentimental value since they honor such an amazing person, but some of them are also worth way more than just 25 cents.

So how do you know if yours is one of them? Well according to the TikTok account The Coin Channel, the back of the coin typically shows Dr. Ride next to a window on the space shuttle looking down at Earth, but if you see an extra line behind her neck, and another by Earth, your quarter is out of this world. That's because a strange error occurred on it where George Washington's face from the front of the coin is showing on the back, which makes it very valuable to collectors. In fact, one just sold on eBay for $410 after 77 bids.

The Sally Ride quarter with the error isn't the only one worth a lot more than face value, a gross mistake seen on one makes it worth up to two grand, a misprint on another has it valued at $200, and some extra material has another worth a bunch - in fact millions of quarters are actually worth $20 and not 25 cents.

If you find one, head on over to eBay and list it to try to get paid for your exciting find.
