Nick Jonas Explains The Four Themes On New 'Spaceman' Album

Nick Jonas is joining us in the Zoom room from London Friday morning to talk about his new album, Spaceman.

"I just decided to start writing," Jonas tells Elvis Duran and the Morning Show when asked about writing his new album while in quarantine. "It felt like I was off in space, floating aimlessly..... It evolved pretty naturally and I wanted to give this bigger persona a name. So when Spaceman was written it seemed like the fitting name for the album."

This marks the first theme from Jonas' album. The next he calls the 'indulgence' theme which includes his song (Elvis' favorite) titled 'Too Drunk.' The next phase of the album he calls 'euphoria' which is when "you're back with your person." And the final theme of the album is commitment. Jonas explains, "It was very therapeutic in a way and it sorta just happened on its own. It really opened up the creative process (writing the album from home)."

Jonas tells us that he decided 2021 would be a 'year of firsts.' Since the start of the year Jonas has put out an album completely written from home, was in a Super Bowl commercial and hosted/performed on Saturday Night Live.

"It was very hard and it was like a flash," Jonas says on his SNL appearance. "I was nervous but I approached it with the energy of that I’m with my friends and the cast is fantastic."

Of course how could we let Jonas go without mentioning his amazing partner Priyanka. The actress will be opening an Indian restaurant in NYC this month!

The venue will be upscale dining and will be called Sona. In an announcement about the business venture, she said, "I’m thrilled to present to you SONA, a new restaurant in NYC that I poured my love for Indian food into. SONA is the very embodiment of timeless India and the flavours I grew up with. The kitchen is helmed by the incredible Chef@harinayak, a masterful talent, who has created the most delicious and innovative menu, taking you on a food journey through my amazing country."

"It's going to be amazing. The team behind it is great and the food is out of this world," Jonas says on the place. He also explains how he has "learned so much through seeing the world through her eyes and lens and experiences." He also details how Bollywood movies have inspired him to listen to different composers and there are definitely 'some of the beats in Spaceman."
