Christian Paul Warns New Artists To Thoroughly Look Over Contracts

At just 4-years-old Christian Paul was musical. He learned to play the drums, then piano, bass and the guitar. "YouTube was instrumental to that," says Paul to Elvis Duran Friday January 24th.

"I was six or seven," Paul says when he found himself stopped in his tracks by an intimate performance of Jodeci performing a cover of Stevie Wonder on MTV. "I remember being completely mesmerized by their performance," says Paul, "Captivated."

Although Paul has been involved in the music scene for a long time, this may be one of the first times you are hearing from him. "At twelve I started perusing a career in the industry. It took me some time to play through the fake players that I got introduced to after being on Perez Hilton’s website," explains Paul. While navigating through the industry, he signed horrible contracts for his music including one where he was "bound to the clause indefinitely while I was not working. There was also a clause that I had to pay back 3x everything that was invested in." He now wants to warn other upcoming artists that they should hire their own attorney's and be careful of what they sign.

Now, Paul is working with the the manager that discovered Rihanna at just 16 and he's more than ready for his debut EP! You can hear Paul's single 'Chapter' out now!
