Officers Respond To Call After 3-Year-Old Begins To Drown In Pool

The qualities a person needs to innately have to be a police officer, I cannot relate to. Because what they have to deal with some days CHILLS me.

Alichia Lopez wanted me to thank her local West Seneca police department here in New York.

They recently responded to one of the most dreaded calls an officer can get, unresponsive child.

3-year-old Stella slipped away from her parent’s sight for only a few moments, and was found lifeless at the bottom of the pool.

Thankfully her dad and neighbor knew to perform CPR until officers and medics arrived, which took virtually no time, and they got her to the hospital in time to save her life.

The officers also checked on the parents throughout the night, even after everything was ok, and few days later the family INCLUDING Stella, went into the police department to thank them.

Drowning is one of the leading causes of death for children under 5, and like this one it’s usually not a neglect issue, so if you have young children maybe learn CPR and get a pool alarm. Both can be a big help.

Thank you Alichia!
