12-Year-Old Uses Barmitzvah Project To Help Vaccinate People Eligible

Today’s story was sent to me by our very own Danielle Dellilo and it features 12-year-old Sam Keusch.

Sam was looking for something to do for his Bar Mitzvah project, and for those of you who don’t know, that’s a good deed that he has to do alongside turning 13. Some kind of mitzvah to help out his community!

Once Sam saw his father help his struggling grandparents make a vaccine appointment online, because they were not tech savvy enough to do it themselves, Sam knew he found his mitzvah!

He created a website called “Vaccine Helper,” which helped New Yorkers figure out if they’re eligible and get a vaccine appointment! It’s kind of a one-stop-shop! These seniors fill out their basic information, and Sam himself books the appointment for them.

So far, he has booked over 1,600 appointments! That’s SO many people that would have struggled on their own!

He said it really struck a chord with him because he knows firsthand how hard it can be to not see your grandparents for so long, and worry about their safety.

So Sam, what you’re doing is incredible, and again if you want to go check it out, it’s called “Vaccine Helper.”
