Park Ranger Saves Dog Stuck On Hiking Trail

Morgan Schoenberger wanted me to shine a light on Park Ranger Kris Salapek, who works at the Delaware Water Gap.

Over the summer, Kris was responding to a call of a hiker and his dog stuck on the trail.

It was a really hot day and this huge dog was overheating, just collapsed on the trail, and the owner wasn’t strong enough to help.

Instead of wasting any time waiting for assistance, Kris put this dog on his back, and hiked several miles out of the park to save him, only stopping at a river to lay the dog down in for a while.

We thank certain kinds of frontline workers all the time, but thank you to park rangers who do such a wonderful job of protecting life and nature.
