Listener of Elvis Duran and the Morning Show, Dallas, called into the show Monday morning to share a very personal story of how our morning show got him through some tough times. Here is his story:
I gotta say Danielle being the parent that she is has helped me to stop being so selfish in my own little world... The last couple of months have probably been rougher than anything I've ever gone through before. At first I thought it was because of COVID and everything but I found out that wasn't the case. Everything just kind of hit me in a rollercoaster and it all hit me at once and at one point in time I was just done and I didn't want to be around anymore.
Dallas continues his story and explains how he got help. The day he was going to end it, he had a decision to make, go left and end it or go right, to his friend's house to say goodbye. He went right, and was held until they could bring him to the hospital.
Dallas says at the hospital they would play our show every morning "and it really really helped. It made me laugh, Danielle talking about her kids, it made me realize, I'm a father and I need to be there for him. She always talks about her kids and I thought I need to be half the parent that she is.. and all I could think about was I need to get out of here and be with my son."
Danielle began shedding tears hearing Dallas' story. You can hear her trying to catch her breath through the mic.
"I've been doing this a long time, 25 years this year, I think what you said probably touched me more than anyone has ever touched me. The fact that I know it's not easy, I know everyday you will have ups and downs but the fact that you know how important you are, and how important your family is and there's a light at the end of the tunnel."
