One of everyone’s favorites Halloween movies is getting a sequel — and it’s coming to Disney+!Hocus Pocus 2 has been confirmed, and will be directed by Hairspray Director, Adam Shankman. He has also directed other films such as Rock of Ages and A Walk to Remember.
The original film, which came out in 1993, starred actresses Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy. The movie focused on resurrected witches who try to become immortal by feeding off the souls of children.
The cast for the sequel has not been announced, and it is unclear if any of the original cast will take part inHocus Pocus 2. Midler has mentioned before that she would love to return to her role as Winifred Sanderson, and even said it was her favorite acting role!
“I have canvassed the girls and they are willing to do it, but we have no say in it,” Midler Stated. "So if you want a Hocus Pocus 2, ask the Walt Disney company.” Midler even has previously dressed up as Winifred Sanderson for Halloween, and sang the hitHocus Pocussong “I Put a Spell On You” on her tour.
Midler isn’t the only one from the original cast who has expressed interest in returning. Parker, in fall of 2016, was very excited at the idea of coming together with the cast again to play the evil Salem witch sisters. ““I would love that,” Parker said onWatch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, “I think we’ve all been fairly vocal about being very keen but that hasn’t created any ground swell of movement.”
