In an incredible mixing of the boyband gods, 5 Seconds of Summer and Backstreet Boys crossed paths on Friday, June 15th, during back-to-back interviews with iHeartRadio's Elvis Duran and the Morning Show.
While chatting with 5SOS, who are celebrating their third album, Youngblood, out today, Elvis Duran mentioned that the Backstreet Boys were also on their way up to the studio.
"Can you tell them something for us?" Ashton Irwin asked. "Whenever there is a lot of fans in a place where we are doing something, we go, 'Are we Backstreet right now?' It's a verb we have."
Ashton went on to explain that he has a lot of respect for the Backstreet Boys, who have managed to stay together over the years.
A few minutes later the two groups unexpectedly bumped elbows after the 5SOS interview ran a little long.
Of course, everyone stopped down for a photo op with BSB later posting to Twitter, "What do you say, boys? Supergroup? @5SOS @ElvisDuranShow"
Please. Go. On. Tour. Together (We're begging!)
Check out 5 Seconds of Summer's new album, Youngblood, and Backstreet Boys new single, "Don't Go Breaking My Heart," for your boy-band fill until these two groups ultimately fall in love and collaborate... all thanks to Elvis Duran!
