INTERN BLOG: Female Empowerment at EDMS

I love it when guests at the EDMS have a lot to say about girl power!

Chadwick Boseman, the star of Marvel’s ‘Black Panther,’ dropped by the show to talk about the importance of strong female leads in the movie. I was lucky enough to listen to his interview in person. He was extremely passionate about including powerful female characters in cinematic productions, such as those played by Lupita Nyong’o, Angela Bassett, and Letitia Wright. A few days later, Iggy Azalea brought her own thoughts on maturing as both a woman, and an artist, to the table. She spoke about how she is proud to be a woman, wanting to create music that makes women feel fierce. Her new single “Savior” shows that women have every capability to find strength from within to save themselves, rather than needing a man to do it for them.

The biggest event of that week was show co-host Bethany Watson’s announcement that she would be moving on from the Elvis Duran and the Morning Show. This was a huge shock for me. Bethany has always been one of my favorite hosts; I loved listening to her Hip Hop Clarinet sessions! Furthermore, even though I have only been working with her for a few weeks, she has been exceptionally kind and welcoming to me. Bethany’s decision to pursue her passions, no matter how scary the journey will be, exemplifies female empowerment. You go girl! Good luck with everything.

Tons of female empowerment on my insta, so check it out!
