INTERVIEW: Lorde Chats About New Music + Upcoming Album, 'Melodrama'

Lorde stopped by to chat about her upcoming album, Melodrama. She's released two singles from the record so far, "Green Light" and "Liability."

This is Lorde's sophomore album after 2013's Pure Heroine, which gave her Grammys in 2014 for 'Song Of The Year,' 'Best Pop Solo Performance,' 'Record of the Year,' and 'Best Pop Vocal Album.'

In the four years since we last chatted with Lorde, she's changed immensely. The "Green Light" singer told us, "I was just thinking about when I was last here. I was 16 [when Pure Heroine was released] and I'm 20 now. I was so little. I remember I did my own make-up. [It was] so early in the morning and I was a little goth. And I just stood there and I was very bratty. Well, here I am now. I'm a real human being now."

She continued, "Since I saw you last, I had a little heartbreak. I had my heart broken. It's fine. I'm totally fine. But I think your first heartbreak is a big thing. I went from being 16 [years-old] and being like 'I'm never going to write about [heartbreak], that's lame.' You go through it and it's such a colorful, intense thing and I found myself changing as I came out of that. And off of a sudden I was 'Oh, I'm a different person and I need to write about this crazy thing.'"

Melodrama is available for pre-order now and is set to be released on June 16th.
