Podcaster Joe Rogan announced he'll miss his upcoming UFC 315 analyst gig over his refusal to go to Canada.
Rogan, who staunchly supported President Donald Trump during his 2024 campaign, said he would "rather go to Russia" while discussing the upcoming event scheduled to take place in Montreal on May 10 on the Joe Rogan Experience this week.
“Wow. I won’t be there. I don’t go to Canada anymore,” Rogan said.
“I don’t. I’d rather go to Russia,” he added while laughing.
Rogan referred to the Canadian government as "terrible" but claimed "the Canadian people are awesome" earlier in the episode. The podcaster had previously claimed that his issues with the Canadian government stemmed from the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic after thousands of truckers protested the country's vaccine mandate, according to Front Office Sports.
Trump, who appeared on Rogan's podcast during his campaign, has sparked tensions between the U.S. and Canada by imposing tariffs on Canadian imports, as well as publicly suggesting that Canada should become the 51st state. Canadian fans booed the U.S. national anthem at several sporting events including the NHL's 4 Nations Face-Off tournament in Montreal, WWE's Elimination Chamber premium live event in Toronto and NBA and NHL regular season games held in the country.
Last month, Rogan admitted that he doesn't believe Canada should join the U.S., but said he believes the two countries should make up in what he referred to as "the dumbest f**king feud."
“We have to become friends with Canada again. This is so ridiculous,” he said at the time.
