Politics may be a hot topic for many people in America today, but it is one that impacts nearly every aspect of our culture and special interests, including sports.

Hosted by sports journalist Jemele Hill, Spolitics is a new weekly podcast that launched in October that "examines the world and all of its complexities through the lens of sports." According to the podcast description:

"Each week, this podcast will enthusiastically explore the intersection between sports, race, gender, sexuality and culture. In this narrative-style podcast, expect sharp commentary, novel conversations, and compelling guests that will drive nuanced sports conversations that drive culture."

While introducing the podcast, Hill explained how the project came about after years of being told to keep politics out of sports.

"As a career sports journalist who has spent years writing about and discussing the intersection between sports, politics, race, gender and culture, I've been told for a long time to leave politics out of sports, but join me every Thursday as I discuss, debate and dissect the hottest and sometimes most controversial political and social issues," she said.

Hill will often be joined by guests for "high level conversations with some of the biggest names and smartest people" to share how they "really feel about some of the most pressing issues impacting our country and what they're doing to break barriers and change things for the better."
