Danielle Fishel is opening up about her breast cancer diagnosis, and gave an update on her health in a new interview with PEOPLE.

Fishel revealed her diagnosis earlier this year, sharing that she was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in stu, which is an early form of breast cancer in the milk ducts. Now, after undergoing a lumpectomy followed by a margin revision surgery, Danielle says she is cancer-free.

"That pathology came back with no cancer found. I've since had a clear mammogram," she shared with PEOPLE. "I'm feeling really well. I'm just grateful that the surgery part is behind me." The Boy Meets World actress added, "Now moving forward, I still have to make a decision about radiation and I will most likely be starting hormone therapy."

The "Pod Meets World" podcast host recalled of first being diagnosed, "I was feeling healthy, I was looking healthy. But I went in for my mammogram and they said it looked suspicious and the results are abnormal. I was not expecting in any way that it was going to find anything. It was really shocking."

As for how she has been recovering since her surgeries, she shared, "The lymph node removal has been the longest most difficult recovery." She added, "I notice a difference in the way I physically look. Aside from just two incisions, I can tell that I've had tissue removed from my breast. I'm not thrilled about it, but I am thrilled to be alive and I'm thrilled that my cancer was found early."
