Matthew Perry's ex Lauren Graham revealed the last gift the "Friends" star gave her before his untimely death during her “Have I Told You This Already?” book tour in Washington on Friday (April 5th). According to Page Six, Perry gifted the "Gilmore Girls" standout a pickleball set for her birthday nearly seven months before he passed away, with a card that read, "Be Older."
“He’s, like, really into tennis and pickleball." She continued, detailing their relationship over the course of the last twenty years.
"While he was not technically ever a boyfriend, he was an almost in my life. A friend and a constant. We would stretch for a year, then he would come back in my life, and he had just come back in my life last year.” The 57-year-old actress mentioned that Perry's passing is still "really hard to believe," referring to his death as a "terrible loss."
Page Six noted that the two dated "causally" in the early 2000's and though a romantic relationship did not persist, a decades-long friendship blossomed. Perry died on October 28, 2023 and is remembered for his role as Chandler Bing in "Friends" (in addition to a plethora of iconic movie and sitcom roles) and his memoir, “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing,” released in 2022, that exists as a helping hand to those battling addiction.
