Matt James's season of The Bachelor just got even more interesting. During the January 25 episode, five additional women were added to the cast—Michelle Young, Brittany Galvin, Cataline Morales, Kim Li and Ryan Claytor all arrived at Nemacolin Resort ready to fight for Matt's heart.
It turns out, though, there are more surprises coming. After introducing the five new suitors, a preview revealed somebody else will be joining the fray in the next episode—Heather Martin. For those who don't know, Matt and Heather met before his season began filming. In a teaser for Heather's debut episode, host Chris Harrison can be heard saying: “Heather, what are you doing here? You could honestly destroy this whole thing for Matt."
During a recent interview, Matt denied rumors he was in a relationship with Heather before The Bachelor started filming. “I have met Heather before [but] I had no relationship with her,” he explained. “But she does have a relationship with one of my good friends [former Bachelorette] Hannah Brown. I was just as shocked to see her as everyone else was when she arrives and I think it makes for a very interesting conversation.”
Matt also recently addressed the addition of five new suitors so late in his season, particularly how the original group of women reacted to the plot twist. “I tried to be empathetic to that because I would be upset if new women came when I was part of this journey .And you have all these newcomers [who are] very attractive, educated … everything that you would want in someone that you’re looking for, you see come through the door, five more, and I can see how that can be frustrating,” he shared with Us Weekly. “[But] I think there’s a certain way that you should deal with that frustration.”
