Calling all witches and wizards. Grab your Firebolts and invisibility cloaks, it's time to head back to Hogwarts for more magical adventures.
On Monday (January 25), The Hollywood Reporter revealed a new live-action Harry Potter TV series is in the works at HBO Max. The project is currently in the earliest stages of development, however, so no details are available at this time.
According to sources with knowledge of the situation, executives at HBO Max have "engaged in multiple conversations with potential writers exploring various ideas that would bring the beloved property to television." At this point in time, only "broad ideas" have been discussed in "exploratory" meetings over at the streaming platform.
Currently, none of the writers reportedly called to pitch their ideas for a new Harry Potter TV Show are attached to a project. No other deals have been made, either. "There are no Harry Potter series in development at the studio or on the streaming platform," HBO Max and Warner Bros. told THR in a statement.
Until further details are known, Harry Potter fans still have the third film in the Fantastic Beasts prequel series to look forward to. The film is set to premiere next year with two more installments planned to follow.
