Nicki Minaj Announces First New Song Since Giving Birth

Nicki Minaj is dropping a new joint tonight!

The “Barbie Tingz” rapper is set to appear on a remixed version of Sada Baby’s song “Whole Lotta Choppas.” Minaj announced the news on Thursday morning (October 15), tweeting, “Midnight #WholeLottaChoppas.”

The Detroit native released the OG version of “Whole Lotta Choppas” back in August. The CoalCash Blac-produced joint, which interpolates Tag Team’s 1993 dance anthem “Whoomp! (There It Is),” was also accompanied by a party-themed music video. Since its premiere, Sada Baby’s visual has racked up almost 7 million views.

This new remix will mark the Queen emcee’s first song release since appearing on A$AP Ferg's “Move Ya Hips,” Doja Cat’s “Say So” and 6ix9ine’s “Trollz.” As yet, she hasn’t released another standalone joint since putting out her promotional single “Yikes” in February.

As previously reported, rumor has it that Minaj may (or may not) make hip-hop history by finally squashing her beef with rap rival Cardi B on a rumored collaboration. It’s a pretty big deal, considering the two have a tumultuously violent past, having nearly come to blows at a New York Fashion Week party back in 2018.

Minaj’s “Whole Lotta Choppas” will also be the first offering she’s released since giving birth to her first child with husband Kenneth Petty. Although the “Starships” artist has yet to announce the news herself, TMZ reported the couple welcomed their baby in Los Angeles on September 30.
