Bindi Irwin is pregnant!
The 22-year-old Australian wildlife activist announced she and her husband, Chandler Powell, are expecting their first child together. The longtime sweethearts took to Instagram early Tuesday morning (August 11) to break the exciting news.
“Baby Wildlife Warrior due 2021,” Bindi captioned a photo of the pair holding up a tiny khaki uniform shirt for their future Wildlife Warrior. “Chandler and I are proud to announce that we’re expecting! It’s an honour to share this special moment in our lives with you.”
“Though I’m still in my first trimester, we really want you to be part of our journey from the beginning of this new life chapter,” she continued. “We couldn’t wait to share the news as this beautiful little being has become the most important part of our lives. Your support means the world to us. Please let me know your best advice and send good vibes & prayers to our little sweetheart. Love & light. ❤️”
Chandler also reacted to the joyous news on Twitter, writing, “We’re going to be parents!! We have a baby Wildlife Warrior on the way coming in 2021. Becoming a dad is the highlight of my life. I cannot wait to embark on this new adventure and life chapter with my gorgeous wife,@BindiIrwin. Bee, you’re going to be the most amazing mother.”
The pregnancy news comes months after the lovebirds tied the knot in an outdoor ceremony on March 25. To honor the memory of her late father, Crocodile Hunter star Steve Irwin, Bindi chose to keep her last name.
"I think that for me personally, after Dad passed away it was really important for me to feel close to him, and having his last name means so much to me," she told Entertainment Tonight. "Chandler has become an Irwin now. It has become a part of me.”
