'SNL' Star Michael Che Says His Grandmother Died Of Coronavirus

Saturday Night Live star Michael Che has come forward to reveal that his grandmother passed away on Sunday (April 5) from the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a new post, which was shared on Instagram on Monday, the Weekend Update host, 36, broke the news. "I'm doing OK, considering," the comedian wrote. "I'm obviously very hurt and angry that she had to go through all that pain alone. But I'm also happy that she's not in pain anymore. And I also feel guilty for feeling happy. Basically the whole gamut of complex feelings everybody else has losing someone very close and special. I'm not unique. But it's still scary. I don't know if I'll lose someone else to this virus. I don't know if I'll be lost to this virus. Who f**king knows?"

While Che was clear with his frustrations over coronavirus, the star did throw his humor into the mix when discussing the pandemic. "I actually believe this is 5G poisoning, and not because I've done any research on this, or even understand what 5G really is," he explained. "I just refuse to believe I lost my sweet, beautiful grandma because some n***a ate a bat one time. I'm sorry. Even if that IS in fact how this all started. I'm just not willing to accept that right now. F**k that. I need a better story."

"To anybody thats lost someone to this virus like I have, I don’t have to tell you how much it hurts. But just know what we will make it through this," he continued.

"Whatever," he concluded. "I'm just mad." At time of press, more than 11,000 deaths had been reported due to the global pandemic.
