Matthew McConaughey Hosts Virtual Bingo For Isolated Senior Citizens

Matthew McConaughey brought some fun and games to seniors in self-isolation.

The Dallas Buyers Club actor and his family invited residents of The Enclave at Round Rock Senior Living in his native Texas to play a few rounds of virtual bingo amid the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. Joined by his wife, kids and mother, the Oscar winner hosted the event over a Zoom call in which he helps call out potential winning chips throughout the game.

“We got I-24,” the actor says in the clip as the family cheers when a player raises their board in victory. “Richard is waving a hammer up high, we got Charles with the iPad up high. We got two winners!”

“Thank you to Matthew, his wife Camila, and his mom Kay for hosting our residents for a few rounds of virtual bingo!” the facility wrote of the special event via Facebook. “Our residents had a great time playing, and they loved talking with Matthew about his family heritage and his favorite drink.”

Since the coronavirus outbreak, McConaughey has been using his social platforms to ease the anxieties of those who have been impacted by the pandemic. He’s been sharing several videos on Instagram reminding fans to be kind to themselves and to each other amid these trying times, adding, “Let’s do our due diligence and take the precautions we need to to take care of ourselves and those of us around us, right now more than ever.”

As of Tuesday morning (April 7), more than 8,000 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Texas and 151 residents have died as a result of the novel disease. Nationwide, there are more than 367,700 confirmed cases and almost 11,000 coronavirus-related deaths.
