The Weeknd's After Hours short film is... well, for lack of a better phrase, CREEPY AF, but in a, "I can't stop, and kind of don't want to stop, watching" way.
On Wednesday (March 4), the 30-year-old artist dropped a five-minute visual of the same name as his impending fourth studio album, After Hours. The short features a once again blooded Abel —the visual is connected to the two previous music videos he released for his singles "Heartless" and "Blinding Lights" — stumbling around a city, seemingly in a daze, wearing a red suit.
It begins where Abel's previous Jimmy Kimmel Live! performance ended as the Canadian singer is shown thanking the late night talk show host before exiting the stage with a huge smile on his face. However, the grin quickly fades away as Abel, whose face is full of cuts and scratches from the fight he was in in the "Blinding Lights" music video, walks down an empty hallway.
The creepy hallway leads to an empty street where Abel finds himself surrounded by trash and the sounds of police sirens. He then walks to a subway station where he begins to break down, but continues to walk around the station. At one point the camera zooms in on Abel's hands, which are covered in black gloves, before he is shown yelling — you can't actually hear the scream —as a train passes by.
Abel's aimless walking leads him to an intense red light that requires him to put his dark sunglasses on — the same pair he started the "Heartless" video wearing. The short then gets extremely trippy, showing random psychedelic visuals before Abel is mysteriously dragged through a subway station.
The film ends with a couple entering an elevator that Abel is already on. However, after the elevator doors close you hear screaming and what sounds like people fighting/ Abel possibly killing them.
