Rihanna To Receive President's Award At 51st NAACP Image Awards

Rihanna is set for a prestige honor at the 51st NAACP Image Awards.

On Tuesday (February 4), the organization announced that the pop titan, 31, will receive this year’s NAACP President’s Award, which is given out "in recognition of special achievement and distinguished public service." Among the past recipients include JAY-Z, Lauryn Hill, Spike Lee, John Legend and Muhammad Ali.

"Rihanna has not only enjoyed a groundbreaking career as an artist and musician but has also distinguished herself as a stellar public servant," NAACP President Derrick Johnson said in a statement. "From her business achievements through Fenty to her tremendous record as an activist and philanthropist, Rihanna epitomizes the type of character, grace, and devotion to justice that we seek to highlight in our President's Award." Johnson will present the award to the entertainer during the live telecast in Pasadena, California.

The 51st NAACP Image Awards will air live for the first time on BET on February 22 at 8 PM ET.
