Drake and Future are coming with that heat in 2020!
To fans' surprise, the longtime collaborators dropped their second collab of the year titled "Desires" on Friday (January 31). The track, which was thought to be named "I Know" after Future teased it back in August, features the twosome rapping about wanting to shield their women from the world to have them to themselves.
Drake kicks things off, rapping the chorus: "I should have put you somewhere where no one could find you/ Mansion out in the sticks with nothin' around you/ Katy, Texas, Dallas, Texas, you know, a different environment (Ayy)/ 'Cause you got desires, I know, I know, I know (Hey)/ 'Cause you got desires, I know, I know, I know (Hey)/ 'Cause you got desires."
Future then comes in with his syrupy tone and smooth bars, rapping, "You got that fire and I'm not a liar/ You had me down on my knees everyday, had to talk to Messiah/ I'm in that '81 and this that '82, this a different Ferrari, yeah/ I tried to pay all your loans off and cop you a driver, yeah/ I had you stayin' too close to the city/ You actin' too vulnerable livin' this life/ I shoulda moved you away from Houston/ Before I copped you all this ice/ You wanna be my number one, you're not actin' like the main thing/ I let you play my number two, you barely made the second string."
"Desires" arrives just weeks after Drake and Future dropped "Life Is Good" — their first collaborative effort since 2016. The single is speculated to be the first track off of their rumored What a Time to Be Alive follow-up. As fans know, the duo has been teasing a follow-up to the 2015 collaborative mixtape for almost a year.
Last April, after Drake brought Future out for his London show, the Atlanta rapper hopped on IG with Drake and teased that he and the Toronto rapper were working on it. "What's that?" Drake said in the video as he held up two fingers, seemingly meaning What a Time to Be Alive part two is on the way. "We gotta cook that up. That two."
"It's already cooked up," Future responded. "Top secret."
