This Alicia Keys and Billie Eilish duet was everything we never knew we needed.
The songbirds sent chills through the crowd during Monday’s episode (December 9) of The Late Late Show when the pair came together to perform Eilish's emotional hit song “Ocean Eyes.” Keys, who took over hosting duties for James Corden last night, surprised her all-female Stage 56 audience when she unfolded a piano from under her talk show desk, and invited Eilish to sing along with her.
In a beautiful display made even more intimate with mood lighting, Keys and Eilish delivered a moving performance layered with heartfelt falsettos and harmonies. After the song was finished, the stars embraced each other in a warm hug that made the moment feel magical. And in case you’re wondering, yes, this is us begging them to release a studio version at this point.
Also during the segment, Keys gushed about covering the song on her Instagram Stories, which was such a surprise to the “Bad Guy” star who is also a fan of the R&B pianist’s work. In return, the teenager pulled up a home video of her covering Keys’ smash hit “Fallin’” — and nailing it! — when she was only 12 years old.
Admiration for each other isn't the only thing Eilish and Keys have in common, as both stars have recently received some exciting 2020 Grammys news. On January 26, Keys will return to host the annual awards show, where Eilish has been nominated in six categories including Record of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year.
