Taylor Swift Makes History At The 2019 American Music Awards

Taylor Swift made history over Michael Jackson at the 2019 American Music Awards.

Beating out the King of Pop’s record 24 honors, the “ME!” musician took home six AMAs during Sunday's (November 24) annual awards show, which now makes her the most awarded artist in the fan-voted program’s history with 29 trophies.

Swift walked away with trophies for Artist of the Year, Favorite Music Video (“You Need to Calm Down”), Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist, Favorite Pop/Rock Album (Lover), Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist, and Artist of the Decade. With last night’s earnings, the pop star also extended her record for the most Artist of the Year, Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist and Favorite Pop/Rock albums ever won at the AMAs.

“This year has been a lot of good, a lot of really complicated, so behalf of my family and me, thank you so much for being there and caring,” the 29-year-old expressed after being presented with the Artist of the Decade honor by Carole King. “This album really felt like a new beginning, and I also really love my record label, Universal and Republic. Monte Lipman, Lucian Grainge, thank you for being so generous to me and allowing me to make whatever music I want to make. As a songwriter, it’s so thrilling to me that I get to keep doing that.”

The “End Game” star also delivered a career-spanning medley of her greatest hits during the ceremony, including throwback classics like “Love Story,” “Blank Space,” “Shake It Off,” “I Knew You Were Trouble” and many more.
