There's A 'Friends' Reunion Special In The Works At HBO Max

Friends Television Stills

Everybody remain calm: a Friends reunion special is currently in the works at HBO Max. While the deal isn't finalized yet, the Hollywood Reporter claims we could actually be getting new Friends content with the entire original cast some time in the near future. Here's everything you need to know.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, behind the scenes "talks" for an unscripted reunion special are happening right now. The reunion special would feature Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer, as well as Friends' creators David Crane and Marta Kauffman.

The news of the reunion special comes shortly after Aniston revealed to Ellen DeGeneres that the cast was working on something together. "We would love for there to be something, but we don't know what that something is. So we're just trying. We're working on something," the actress said a few weeks ago, though she shut down speculation about a scripted revival series.

Little else is known about the reunion special, though it's like it will be a retrospective look at the show. It will air on the upcoming streaming service HBO Max, which recently acquired the streaming rights to the beloved '90s sitcom. Not only will fans be able to catch up with the cast in the new special, they'll be able to binge all 10 seasons of Friends in the same place.
