It appears that Rihanna's taking some much needed and well-deserved "me" time.
Early Wednesday morning (November 13), the 31-year-old singer and business mogul opened up about her "overwhelming" year, admitting that she's struggled to balance her very busy life. "to all my friends/family/coworkers who I have yet to get back to in the past months...please forgive me," Rihanna captioned a gorgeous selfie of herself wearing a white t-shirt with the words "Art School Dropout" on the front. "this year has been quite an overwhelming one, and I’m working on that ish called Balance. brb."
While Rih Rih didn't explicitly say that she's taking a break, from the tone of her message and her last sentiment, "brb" (be right back), it would seem that she's stepping away for a bit, which, in truth, has been a long time coming.
To say that Rihanna has had a busy year would be an understatement. As fans know, she's released dozens of new Fenty products; she became the first black woman in history to head a fashion house with LVMH, launching her luxury brand Fenty; she grew her Savage X Fenty lingerie line, which included throwing the most-talked-about NYFW show that was streamed on Amazon Prime; she became an official ambassador of her home country Barbados; she was on a number of magazine covers, including her 25th Vogue cover; Rih even dropped a huge 500-page coffee table book that features more than 1000 pictures of herself from throughout her career. And somehow, amongst all of that, she's also been working on her ninth studio album.
So, a healthy break seems right on time for the world's richest female musician.
However, not all of Rihanna's fans were on board with her break announcement. Despite her heartfelt and totally relatable Instagram post, Rih was still inundated with "Where's The Album" comments, in regards to the whereabouts of her upcoming album, which she's been questioned about for the last year.
Seemingly to poke fun at the fans who still won't let the album talk go, Rihanna's stylist commented on her IG post: "Where’s the album heaux?!!!" And she jokingly clapped back, "I don’t need this kinda negativity in my life! BLOCKT."
Guess Rihanna's never too busy for a little trolling.
