Liam Hemsworth Files For Divorce From Miley Cyrus

Liam Hemsworth has officially pulled the plug on his marriage to Miley Cyrus.

According to TMZ, the 29-year-old actor filed for divorce on Wednesday (August 21) in Los Angeles, citing "irreconcilable differences." Sources told the outlet, "Liam and Miley had a prenup, keeping their earnings during the marriage separate, so there won't be a fight over money. And, since there are no kids, we're told the divorce will be easy breezy."

Liam's divorce filing is a bit shocking given the fact that multiple reports have claimed that Miley wanted to work on their marriage. However, insiders recently told TMZ, Liam's team told him he'd be "insane" to jump back in.

As fans know, Miley and Liam announced their split last week after less than a year of marriage. "Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time," a rep for the 26-year-old singer told People in a statement. "Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy."

News of the split came just before photos surfaced of Miley kissing Brody Jenner's ex-wife, Kaitlynn Carter, during the ladies' group vacation in Lake Como, Italy. Shortly after, Liam broke his silence on the split, captioning an Instagram photo of a sunset: "Hi all Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward. This is a private matter and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets. Any reported quotes attributed to me are false. Peace and Love."

Last week, Miley released "Slide Away," which appears to give her version of why they split. While the song lyrics have been called "scorching" — Miley sings "I want my house in the hills/Don’t want the whiskey and pills" — a source told People, Miley "isn’t trying to hurt" her estranged husband. “Her song was her way of telling her story without having to say anything at all,” the insider added. "She isn’t trying to bash him, but she wants to be able to share what she’s been going through."
