Michael Buble Reveals How His Son's Cancer Diagnosis Changed Him Forever

Michael Bublรฉ is a changed man after experiencing the hardships from his son's cancer diagnosis two years ago, but the singer/songwriter is grateful that he and his family are in a better place.

In his new interview with PEOPLE, the 43-year-old singer revealed that he is "different" after the heartbreaking diagnosis. Thankfully, 5-year-old Noah is in remission from liver cancer. "You don't go through big things in your life, dramatic things like I've gone through or my wife has gone through without it having an effect on you," he explained. "Everyone understood in my world what my priority was. We all go through things. You just hope you learn something about yourself and you learn something about the people with you."

Just two years ago, Bublรฉ was about to perform in London when he received a text message from his wife, Luisana Lopilato, revealing the devastating news. Putting everything on hold, the pair moved from Vancouver to California to be by their son's side and patiently watched the young one receive life-saving treatments, including chemotherapy. Bublรฉ is also a father to two-and-a-half-year-old son, Elias, and newborn daughter, Vida.

"I don't think I feel very nervous for anything anymore," he admitted of his new outlook on life. "The perspective that I have on life now allows me to understand that I donโ€™t have to sweat the small stuff. I want there to be a purity, and I want there to be a focus on relationships and kindness. I'm spending my time doing things I love and with people I love, for people I love."

As for as the music front goes, Bublรฉ revealed that his new album, Love, has brought him to a really positive place, with all the well-wishes giving him a "real faith" in humanity. "I feel like every performance, every time I meet somebody on the street, it's really an opportunity to look them in the eye and express my appreciation and how grateful we are for their love and their compassion," he added.
