Demi Lovato Hospitalized Following Apparent Drug Overdose

Update: As per PEOPLE, Lovato is now in "stable" condition. Contrary to the initial report, a source close to the singer argued that her overdose was not heroin-related.

Demi Lovato was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital after suffering what appears to be a heroin overdose, as per a from TMZ on Tuesday afternoon (July 24).

According to law enforcement sources, the pop star was transported from a home in the Hollywood Hills just before noon on Tuesday and is currently being treated. Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Demi was treated with Narcan, which is an emergency treatment for narcotic overdoses, at her residence in the Hollywood Hills. As all of her fans know, Lovato has fought substance abuse for several years. In late June, the singer admitted that she relapsed on her six-year sobriety streak on her new song, "Sober."

On her recently released ballad, Lovato sings about not being sober anymore and it's a candid reflection on her recent misstep with the help of producers M-Phazes, Tushar Apte, and RØMANS. "Momma, I'm so sorry, I'm not sober anymore/ And daddy, please forgive me for the drinks spilled on the floor/ To the ones who never left me/ We've been down this road before/ I'm so sorry, I'm not sober anymore," she sings with conviction, before an echo of coos fill the track during the chorus.
