Miley Cyrus Retracts Apology For 10-Year-Old Topless 'Vanity Fair' Cover

Exactly a decade ago Miley Cyrus was at the center of some controversy when the pop star appeared topless on the cover of Vanity Fair and was absolutely destroyed by the media. In fact, it was so bad that the New York Post smeared the star with a cover entirely dedicated to the actress with the title: "Miley's Shame: TV's 'Hannah' apologizes for near-nude pic."

Thankfully, the apology was probably the work of some PR as the star isn't feeling very sorry nowadays for the scandalous cover, which was shot by the iconic Annie Leibovitz.

In a new message on her Twitter account, which was part of a string of other throwback shots on Sunday (April 29), the 25-year-old retracted the decade-old apology and it's very clear that the pop titan doesn't care much about the opinions of others anymore. "IM NOT SORRY," she captioned a shot of the NYP cover, which is dated April 26, 2008. "F**k YOU #10yearsold."

Back in 2008, 15-year-old Cyrus was still very much part of the Disney machine and starring on Hannah Montana. As you can probably guess, the Disney Channel wasn't happy with the shoot, claiming that they were left in the dark and admitting the star had been "deliberately manipulated" into showing some skin. Meanwhile, Cyrus had issued an apology around the scandal as well. "I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed," she said in a statement. "I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologize to my fans who I care so deeply about."
