After mixed reviews to his cover of Beyoncé's "My Myself and I," ZAYN seems to have hit the nail on the head with his dreamy rendition of Elvis Presley's classic, "Can't Help Falling in Love," which was released on Sunday (July 8).
In just under three minutes, the former One Direction's star adds his mellow tone to the 1961 track atop some haunting R&B production, which pits that strong falsetto to the forefront, especially on the bridge. "Can't Help Falling in Love" is one of Presley's most known songs to-date, with previous renditions from the likes of Fleet Foxes, twenty one pilots, Ingrid Michaelson and more. ZAYN has been hinting at the release of his new album, which will serve as the follow-up to 2016's Mind of Mine, and the YouTube description for the track continued that anticipation. "Z2 is coming…," he captioned the clip.
In a recent interview, the 25-year-old pop star admitted that the rollout for his sophomore effort will be a mysterious one. "It's going to be different than anything anyone has done before … It's going to be interesting to see how the audience reacts to this kind of release," the singer admitted. "I wanted to try something different. I think it's all going to make sense in the end when the album finally drops."
