"Cause boy it's cool if you got blue. We got the pink."
Janelle Monáe dropped the video for her new song "PYNK" on April 10th and WE FEEL EMPOWERED by her vagalicious message!
Her dance moves, her color scheme, her wide-leg 'vagina' pants all celebrate the beauty of female sexuality and she's not backing down. Featuring indie artist Grimes, Janelle just served up a total bop alongside a powerful dose of feminism.
Twitter users were quick to comment on how the video's ruffled pants resemble a woman's labia majora and labia minora. Some even noticed the slight difference in each pair of the 'vagina pants,' including the absence of pants on some of the dancers, representing how every body is unique.
So peep how every woman’s “pants” (vagina) are different. And some of the women don’t have “pants” (vagina). pic.twitter.com/0YhAKkyJeZ— Africana WomaNINJA (@ZalUIbaorimi) April 10, 2018
Hi @JanelleMonae, quick question: I was wondering if the 2 women without the vagina pants are meant to represent those who identify as women but don’t have a vagina? (because that would be pretty amazing) ✨ #PYNK pic.twitter.com/aTWeZcnKEv— Leïla | ليلى (@liloufairy) April 10, 2018
Janelle made a whole song about vaginas. A whole video about vaginas. While dressed like a vagina.— wat'chamouf 🚀✨ (@heydawniemarie) April 10, 2018
And I loved every minute of it.
We not worthy of Janelle y'all. #PYNK
"Pynk" is off of Janelle's upcoming album, Dirty Computer, set to drop April 27th.
