The Grammy-winning musician and former Fifth Harmony songbird broke the news on social media early Thursday morning (January 4) with a picturesque promo shot showing the pair dressed in all-black attire. "SAM SMITH X NORMANI X DANCING WITH A STRANGER X January 11, 2019 @samsmith," the songstress captioned the image on Twitter.
In addition, the "Too Good at Goodbyes" artist revealed what appeared to be the artwork for his upcoming single with Normani, which features a neon green bottle of fragrance with the track's title inscribed across.
"I’m so excited for everyone to hear Dancing With a Stranger, which I wrote on 'The Thrill Of It All' tour last year,” Smith said of the record in a statement obtained by uDiscover Music.
"For me, it bottles everything I was feeling whilst juggling my personal life and touring," he continued. "It is also such a beautiful moment for me as I’m a huge, huge fan of Normani and everything she is. I’m so excited to watch her light shine. I hope everyone enjoys hearing this song as much as I do."
According to the music news site, "Dancing With a Stranger," co-written by Stargate and Jimmy Napes, came about by mere happenstance, as the "Waves" artist happened to be in the studio next door to Smith's as he was composing the record — possibly for his next album.
This news confirms our previous reports of the track's expected arrival back in December. (Learn more rumored details, lyrics, and more about the song here!)
