Soleil Moon Frye joins Elvis Duran and the Morning Show to talk all about her Punky Brewster reboot, reuniting with old co-stars and her original documentary Kid 90.
The reboot of the iconic 80's TV show Punky Brewster shows a present day Punky now a single mother raising three kids. She has been reunited with co-stars Cherie Johnson as well as Freddie Prinze Jr. "I feel so grateful," Soleil tells Elvis Duran Friday morning, "I always wanted to bring Punky back. I’m like full on Punky power forever!" Not only is Soleil bringing her character Punky back, she also was a huge part in bringing the show back together. "It was such a natural process and it was so wonderful to be involved... it really has been a dream come true."
One of the best parts for Soleil was reuniting with her friend/sister after 18 years. Soleil and co-star Cherrie were reunited. "I'll never forget when we came back together... I was waiting for her on the other side of the elevator," she continues, "burst into tears because I love her so much. It’s just always been one of those spirit soulful relationships."
Punky Brewster is now available to watch on Peacock!
Soleil also released her original documentary Kid 90 on Hulu. The doc is composed of hundreds of hours of real footage of her life as a teenager in the 90s. "It was as if my teen self left this chronological blue print for me to find my way back to who I once was," describes Soleil. "I just feel so grateful and humbled by it and sharing it with others is the greatest joy."
