When it comes to naming a child, many parents choose to name their offspring after a beloved family member. Usually, this practice is accepted without issue, especially if the name is something innocuous, but one mom is under fire for wanting to name her baby Charles after her late brother. That's because her last name just happens to be Manson, which means the kid would be Charles Manson, just like the cult leader and convicted murderer.

While her husband respects her choice and understands her desire to honor her sibling, but he is "not okay" with the name. He posted on Reddit, explaining the situation writing,

"My wife Melissa (31F) and I (31M) have been married for four years. Melissa is eight months pregnant with our son. Unfortunately, our last name is Manson. As in Charles Manson. It really sucks but it's what I have. Neither of us have ever had a problem with that until now. A few weeks ago her brother unexpectedly passed away of a heart attack at the age of 35. We were both shocked and devastated. He was a great man who was always healthy, and we were very close to him. Nobody saw it coming. Melissa now wants to name our son after her brother. I would not have any issue with this, if her brother's name wasn't Charles."

He stated that Melissa thinks "nobody would notice or care" and she feels he is "disrespecting" her brother by being against the name. The man asked readers if he was being a jerk, adding, "I really do not want our kid to have to go through life having the same name as a serial killer. Imagine how hard it would be to get a job."

Not surprisingly, many commenters agreed with the dad. One wrote, "You are truly protecting the kid. Use Charles as a middle name if you must, or maybe honor her brother using his middle name? A nickname she used to call him?" while another said, "I don't know why wife thinks people won't notice the name Charles Manson… They're 100% gonna notice it for sure."

No word on if they are going with the name or not, but it isn't the first time something like this has happened. Previously, a dad wanted to name his child Theodore, or Theodora for a girl, after his late grandfather, but the man's last name was Bundy, so his child would be Ted Bundy.
