Julia Michaels stopped by to chat about her new single "Uh Huh" off of her debut EP, Nervous.
The "Issues" singer opened up about being incredibly hard on herself. She was set to perform live on-air for us today and lost her voice the night before.
"I just don't want to let anybody down," she told us when Elvis asked her why she had tears in her eyes. "I'm a very transparent person, so I have a hard time hiding my emotions."
She described the range of emotions she goes through before performing because her performance anxiety is often overwhelming. She panics for 20 mins, then naps, panics again, finally performs and it all melts away.
"I love music and I love the way it makes me feel and I love the way it makes people feel. That's why I perform."
Julia went on to explain that she has a hard time believing in her own talent. It took her team of producers and managers to really prop her up and show her exactly how talented she is before she started beliving in herself.
"It takes a little bit of validation, but ultimately I need to be like 'you can do this.'" She continued,"You're human, you're okay!'"
This fall, Julia will be hitting the road in Australia with Shawn Mendes as the opening act in his Illuminate World Tour.
